About Us

C.L. Carter & Associates was formed out of a need in the Tulsa business community for practical, solution-oriented professional accounting and administrative services. During Mr. Carter's tenure as a Corporate Controller/Treasurer, he observed a void in the marketplace for CPA firms that could truly relate to small and mid-sized businesses and their owners. While most firms could handle routine taxes, audits, and financial statements, he noticed that few of the CPAs had significant experience outside the world of the "CPA firm"; they lacked the essential experience working "inside industry" necessary to fully gain the business owner's perspective and to fully understand the day-to-day workings of the small and mid-size companies.

At Carter & Associates, we understand your business because we have been there. Our staff has over 25 combined years of industry experience as employees inside companies ranging from small and medium-sized businesses to Fortune 500 corporations, as well as the experience of small business ownership. Couple that with an additional 15+ years of public accounting experience serving clients in many different industries, and the result is a CPA firm uniquely qualified to meet the needs of business owners and their companies.

While Carter & Associates' client base began in Tulsa, it quickly expanded statewide, and has now included consulting services to companies located in California, Illinois, Arkansas, Texas, New York, Louisiana, Kansas, Canada, and Australia.

PRINCIPAL/OWNER

C.L. (Chuck) Carter is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and a MBA from the University of Tulsa. He has 15 years of accounting experience working inside various corporations, as well as 15+ years of experience helping a wide variety of small to medium-sized businesses through his CPA firm. He is an active member of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs, Tulsa Chapter of OSCPA, COPAS, and PASO. Off and on over the past 20 years, he has chaired the Small Companies Committee of PASO, has served as a consultant/speaker at the Tulsa Small Business Forums, served as an Officer/Treasurer of Prolinks of Tulsa, been active in Christian Business Men Committees (CBMC), served on the board of directors for the Petroleum Accountants Society of Oklahoma (PASO), and served as the National COPAS Liaison with the Petroleum Motor Transport Association. He is active in his church and community, and enjoys speaking at luncheons, classes, and professional meetings.
